Wonderful menu, great tasting food and drinks! Fantastic staff too!!
First I want to compliment the staff. Went there 4 times during my visit and all 4 times the staff was amazing. Great seating: bar, table or patio. I prefer the patio. Great beer selection and great prices before 5 o'clock. As for the food a cup of the she crab soup does not do it justice. Get the bowl! Great taste and an amazing amount of crab. I also loved the seared tuna. The sear was perfect. Had the crab dip and it was very good. If you are looking for a place to hang with great service, food and drink give the Down Under a try.
The Downunder is the perfect waterfront dining experience. This seafood gem absolutely delivers. We timed our dinner with sunset, and watching the sky turn shades of orange and pink while the light reflected off the river made the evening. My husband and I cruise the river and pull up your boat or jet ski and dock right by the deck. It’s incredibly convenient and adds to the laid-back coastal vibe. Whether you arrive by land or water, it’s easily accessible and welcoming. The food was just as impressive as the view. The Oysters Rockefeller were outstanding — rich, flavorful, and perfectly baked with a delicious topping that complemented the oysters without overpowering them. I also loved the blackened Caesar salad. The seasoning had just the right kick, and everything tasted fresh and vibrant. It was hearty enough to be satisfying while still feeling light. Bloody Marys are delish as well. Between the beautiful sunset, riverfront deck seating, boat-friendly access, and standout dishes, this place is a must-visit for seafood lovers.
I wish I would’ve taken more photos. We did the crab dip and it was 100/100 stars! Also our service was absolutely exceptional! Cole Mann kept the drinks and food coming. We were so grateful to have someone so full of life and eager to tell us different facts about the menu and seafood local sourcing. He talked us into the seared tuna and oysters along with our seafood platter and the salmon! So great!!! Delicious food—I tell people how they can point at anything with their eyes closed and order something phenomenal. I always suggest friends try whatever the special is! In my several experiences over the years—this place is the best around!
Excellent crabmeat and she crab soup and collared greens. Great spicey scallops too. Fam dinner and Allison and her crew of guys and gal's took great care of us. Highly recommend you go down under the bridge.
Down Under is a fabulous place to enjoy fresh seafood. The deck is in view of the bridge from Amelia Island to the mainland. The food is delicious and there is often music on the deck. Many regulars love eating at the bar, friendly place!
A quiet late February Tuesday we dined on blackened scallops with coleslaw and the catch of the day, Corvina, with grits. First taste of Corvina and it was delicious. Merri was our server with great suggestions. The 6 Scallops were excellent. I bit tricky to find this out of the way place with plenty of parking. Lots of outdoor as well as indoor seating. It’s a big restaurant.
As always, food and service was excellent, even while busy a bit busy. Of all the places I have tried on Amelia Island, the Downunder has the best burger. The fish & chips (with the Blue Chips) is always great also. Since moving away from the area I only now get to eat here once or twice a year and I find it as good every time like they have never missed a beat. This place is truly an asset to the area.
This was Christmas Eve and they were closing early so were a bit short handed. We still got good service. Ordered a bottle of Franciscan and each got Fish n Chips. The wine was cold and in an insulated bottle. The fish was crisp and hot, and the server was helpful and nice. We sat out on the deck and really enjoyed the beautiful day!
Quaint seafood mainly joint under the Amelia Island Bridge. Born out of a 1950's fish camp. We had blackened chicken, chicken tenders and a cheeseburger. Yeah, I know I said seafood, but they obviously have other fare as well. And it is all good. The portions are appropriate to the price and the flavor is excellent.
